Kaleidoscope Video Challenge Project

The Kaleidoscope Youth Video Challenge is a joint initiative of the Provincial/Regional Councils for International Cooperation, acting collectively as the Inter-Council Network (ICN). Kaleidoscope aims to profile and support young Canadians (13 years and under and 14-18 years) who are engaged as active global citizens.

Building on the popularity of video-sharing as a method of communication, Kaleidoscope invites youth participants to prepare and submit a short video that addresses the questions, ‘What actions are you taking on global issues?’ and ‘Why do you think that active global citizenship is important?’

Submissions will be judged on the thoughtfulness of the participants’ responses and on the creativity of their videos. Workshops on video production will be offered to encourage youth with less experience and access to video equipment to participate. The project will help to draw out the perspectives, realities and visions of youth across the diverse regions of Canada. As a national Public Engagement project coordinated by ICN, it will unite and mobilize international development and global education organizations across the country in a new and creative way, and will raise the profile of the sector as a whole with a broad public audience.
