The Provincial announced on April 7th, has cut the Wild Rose Foundation, an organization that has been supporting organizations and communities for the last 25 years. Previous to the April 7th budget the Wild Rose Foundation provided 1.4 million dollars in funding to Alberta non-profit organizations through its International Development Program. This International Development Program has been described by the Alberta government as “a positive Alberta presence internationally” and the funds for the International Development Program “reflect the long-standing support and commitment of Albertans as they work with non-government organizations abroad.” We must work to reverse this action, before it is too late.

Ways you can help!
On Monday, April 20th the provincial government will be voting on the new budget. Make sure that this change to international funding is not permanent!
Here are a few ideas to help you get started:
• Write, email, phone or meet with your MLA. Tell them that you support the work done by organizations funded by the Wild Rose Foundation. You can find out who is your MLA
• Write, email, or phone Premier Stelmach and tell him that Albertans do care about global poverty! Feel free to use any portion of the press release or details from the Perceptions of Poverty Poll.
• Contact the Media! Ask them to cover the story, give them information that will help them see how important this issue is to Albertans! Thursday April 16th, tune into the Lesley Primeau Show on 630 CHED and share your views on the call in portion!
• Contact the opposition. Write, email, phone or meet with those involved in the Liberal, NDP and other parties to share your point of view!
